#4_ The Four River Restoration Project_

Last Monday, three students gave a presentation on The Four Restoration Project. They introduced about what is the concept ‘green growth’ and what that is for and then explained some support opinions and against opinions on the topic. From the first presenter saying, green growth means to develop without destroying environment. So the government has been developing the 4 biggest rivers, Han river, Nak-dong river, Young-san river, and Keum river, and they insist it is helpful for controlling the flood, promoting tourism, and improving water quality as well. However, there are some arguments on the project.
The people on supporting side emphasize the aims of the project. That is for economy of regions, protecting from flood damage and making lots of jobs as well. On the other hand, the people on opposite side say that the damage of flood is not that serious, no water shortage as well. Moreover, the most curious thing is about making jobs. According to researches, the number of jobs made by this project is just 2,445 .That is not a huge number in terms of the people’s expectation and also these jobs are not permanent things.
Therefore, I totally disagree this project. In a nutshell, this is waste of time and money by our President and as many people are saying, this is for the only big companies. Even though it is, the Four River restoration project has been already preceded major part of them. So from now on, we have to monitor what happen in the future. That is our job for next.

  3. If they really want to save the nature, stop this project is the best way. If they really want to develop canal for economical reason, it is good to doing slowly.

  5. I think so too. The project has some problems. In addition to opinion in your journal, there is the possibility of destroying the nature.
